Musical Rotation — 6 Nov

Posted in music at 11:14 pm by berzerkeleyan

For the week:

Damien Rice “O” (2003) — his new one comes out on Tue. I’ve already pre-ordered it.
The Brian Jonestown Massacre “Their Satanic Majesties’ Second Request” (1996)
Ian Brown “Solarized” (2004)
‘Til Tuesday “Voices Carry” (1985) — one thing I’ve always wanted to know about this album…the cover…the person on the right…is that a guy or a gal? To this day I still can’t figure it out, and I occasionally find myself losing sleep at night because of it.
Duran Duran “Seven and the Ragged Tiger” (1983) — a quick trip to Wikipedia shows that this album is about the band and its managers’ pursuit of success. Huh. And all this time I thought it was about schizophrenia. Shows you how much this once-obsessed fan knows.
Smashing Pumpkins “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness” (1995)
Terence Trent D’Arby’s “Wildcard” (2001) — I’ve written it before, and I’ll write it again: Lenny Kravitz is a charlatan compared to my man Terence.
The Beatles “Help!” (1965)
The Beatles “Rubber Soul” (1965)
Kiss “Love Gun” (1977) — oh yes, snigger away at seeing this just underneath what is considered one of the top five albums of all time. Despite what you may or may not think, this band deserves its place among the greats. Especially with such lyrical classics as “Love Gun” and “Christine Sixteen.” What genius!
Pet Shop Boys “Please” (1986)
The Divine Comedy “A Secret History…The Best Of The Divine Comedy (1999)
Keane “Under the Iron Sea” (2006)

  1. Stu Lloyd said,

    Hey mate,

    Hows things ?

Few new albums to check out if you haven’t done so already :

    KASABIAN – Empire
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE – The Black Parade
    WOLFMOTHER – Wolfmother
    JET- Shine On
ROBBIE WILLIAMS – Rudebox (Seriously !! Not a bad album)

    Hope you’re well.

    Cheers,
    Stu

P.S. Under the iron sea 1996 ? Reckon you’re 10 years out on that one fella.

  2. Thanks for the list. I got “Empire,” but I’ve only heard it once. I’ll try to give it its due this week. I just ordered the following from Amazon:

    Damien Rice “9”
Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins “Rabbit Fur Coat”
    Razorlight “Razorlight”
Mew “And the Glass Handed Kites”
    The Killers “Sam’s Town”
Jet “Shine On” — thanks for that one. But there’s no way I’m getting a Robbie Williams album! :P

Thanks for the correction. It’s been fixed. That album’s really grown on me. How ’bout for you?
