Music Rotation — 12 Feb

Posted in music at 5:49 pm by berzerkeleyan

For the week:

Catherine Wheel “Ferment” (1992)
David Gray “White Ladder” (2000)
Dire Straits “Love Over Gold” (1982) — my favorite by Dire Straits. I wish I could play guitar like Mark Knopfler.
I wish I could play guitar, period.
Kiss “Paul Stanley” (1978) — each of the Kiss solo albums has something good going for it. “Ace Frehley” is by far the best one. Paul Stanley comes in second for his efforts. This is a good 70’s rock record. Surprisingly, Gene Simmons is the worst of the lot — by a long shot. In fact, everyone else lapped him. Sadly, Cher’s cameo was probably the highlight.
Missing Persons “Spring Session M” (1982)
Scissor Sisters “Ta-Dah!” (2006) — I predict this band will make a Broadway musical someday. “Ta-Dah!” is not as good as the first. There are no clear winners like “Comfortably Numb” or “Take Your Mama.” But I’ll give it a few more listens to see if anything jumps out.
Manic Street Preachers “The Holy Bible” (1994)
The Who “Quadrophenia” (1973)
The Delays “Faded Seaside Glamour” (2004)
Juan Luis Guerra y 440 “Bachata Rosa” (1990)
