For the week, lots:

Lloyd Cole & The Commotions “Mainstream” (1987)genre: Modern Rock.
Starsailor “Love Is Here” (2002)genre: Emoschlock.
Editors “An End Has A Start” (2007)genre: Neo Wave. After two weeks of heavy listening, I can’t say this album does it for me. It’s got all the sounds I like in a band — morose vocals, propulsive guitars, and spacey synthesizers. But I’m just not feeling the passion.
Elbow “Leaders Of The Free World” (2005)genre: Emoschlock.
Alec R. Costandinos “Romeo & Juliet” (1977)genre: Disco.
Donna Summer “On The Radio” (1979)genre: Disco.
The Beach Boys “Pet Sounds” (1966)genre: 60’s Pop.
Mansun “Little Kix” (2000)genre: BritPop.
“American Gigolo” Soundtrack (1980)genre: Various.
My Morning Jacket “Z” (2005)genre: Cosmic Americana.
David Gray “White Ladder” (2000)genre: Modern Folk.
Terence Trent D’Arby “Wildcard” (2001)genre: Rock/R&B.
Brett Anderson “Brett Anderson” (2007)genre: Emoschlock.
Rufus Wainwright “Release The Stars” (2007)genre: Modern Torch Song. As of this writing, this is currently $8 on Amazon. Wow. Get it while it’s hot!
Richard Ashcroft “Keys To The World” (2006)genre: Emoschlock. I’m clearly getting old, because this album finally hit me this week. My ears are now attuned to what Richard Ashcroft is getting at here.
Khonnor “Handwriting” (2004)genre: Hi-Fi Indie Fuzz.
Neutral Milk Hotel “On Avery Island” (1996)genre: American Indie. I’ve had this in my library for over three years, and finally busted it out this week. Man, what was I thinking?? Verrry Nice.
Elastica “Elastica” (1995)genre: BritPop.
“Trainspotting” Soundtrack (1996)genre: Various.
Death Cab For Cutie “Transatlanticism” (2003)genre: American Indie.
