For the week:

Tom McRae “Just Like Blood” (2003)genre: Folk.
Athlete “Beyond The Neighbourhood” (2007)genre: Emoschlock. It’s weird. I know this is a good album, yet I can’t seem to get into it. Everything I listen to has always had context to which I can associate it — an event, a person, or just an overall feeling. But not this one. This one has no anchor. I feel nothing when I listen to it. So it keeps slipping to the bottom of my virtual music pile.
Panda Bear “Person Pitch” (2007)genre: Indie Rock. Fans of Brian Wilson should pick this up without a single doubt about whether they’ll like it. They will.
Patrick Watson “Close To Paradise” (2006)genre: Canadian Indie Rock.
Stereophonics “Pull The Pin” (2007)genre: British Rock. Meh. Looks like the Kelley Jones formula is wearing a bit thin on this one.
Laika “Sounds Of The Satellites” (1997)genre: Dream Pop.
Garbage “Bleed Like Me” (2005)genre: Angry Grrl.
Muse “H.A.A.R.P” (2008 )genre: Space Metal. I was a little slow picking this one up. Outstanding live album. The DVD alone is well worth the cost. If I had a mere thimbleful of Matthew Bellamy’s talent, I’d die a happy man.
Hot Chip “Made In The Dark” (2008 )genre: Techno Geek.
